Diaphragm and Breath in Massage Therapy

The diaphragm is, as we know, is our primary muscle of breathing.

What is less known, however, is that it is oh-so-much-more than that !
It has implications in back pain, pelvic floor dysfunction, pelvic girdle pain (SIJ pain), ‘short’ hamstrings and repetitive hamstring injuries, low back pain, neck pain … and so much more … and may be the ‘missing piece of the puzzle’ in many therapeutic interventions.

Can we affect it with touch therapy. Yes!

We welcome you to this 2-day class
Where we will explore some of the anatomy involved, but will focus on the relationships that the diaphragm has … with the psoas, with the QL, with the abdominal obliques , with the spinal muscles and with the pelvic floor.
You will learn a variety of techniques that directly and indirectly affect the diaphragm … and ways we can use movement to assess and influence the diaphragm function.
We will look at why touch, movement, communication are important aspects of client interaction are essential for cohesive treatment rather than a bunch of random ideas thrown together.

… and maybe have your biases confronted about what we are really doing with touch and movement in our sessions!
